5 Tips To Stay Motivated Every Day
This one is going to be short and sweet!
I had someone ask me this question in my Instagram DMs and thought I’d share it here.
She wanted to know how I stay so motivated to keep going with my team and my clients.
I wanted to tell her that I didn’t have any tips because on most days I don’t feel that motivated, but I now realize that wouldn’t have been true.
I know so many small business owners that don’t work most days. They don’t have a “lifestyle” business, they just don’t have the motivation to keep going day after day, especially when things aren’t super easy.
Well, my friends, I do have that motivation to keep moving even when I don’t want to.
Here Are My Tips:
- Plan your weeks out meticulously. Some people think I’m crazy, but this works for me. I work between 30 and 40 hours each week, and everything I do is planned out on my Google Calendar as a direct action. Instead of “write content” I have “Write blog post titled “The 5 Tips I Use to Keep Myself Motivated“ and I block off two hours to write, seo, and publish it.
- Be future-focused. I focus on the future and make strategic decisions based on my next 3 to 6 months, not where I am right now.
- Create a business you love. I seriously love what I do. Even when I don’t feel like working or I’ve hit burnout, all I need to do is get on a call with a client and remember how much I love strategizing with them. It’s the best and it always perks me up.
- Create freedom. Yeah, it’s cliche, but it’s so true. I hated asking permission to take time off when I had a boss. I can make time for appointments, soccer games, and lunch with friends. I’m not the type to sleep late, but just knowing that I can, without consequence really means a lot to me and keeps me going.
- Stop when it’s time to stop. Over-working, even on something that you love, will take its toll and lead to burnout eventually. End your workday at a decent time and don’t let it spill over into other areas of your life. It’s fine if you prefer to work late, just create defined boundaries for yourself and stick to them.
